{A stunning country home known as Six Swans, designed by Steven Gambrel}

{A nicely arranged vignette. The distorted reflection on the convex mirror turns the reflection into art.}

{Love how the transom window is painted a different colour. It calls attention to the architectural detail in the hallway.}

{A handsome collection of furniture is grouped around a roaring fireplace. Also worthy of note is the ceiling detail with the intricate trellis moldings.}

{I love the contrast between the weight and monolithic quality of the vanity with the slender mirror.}

[I think those chairs are an odd and quirky choice, but the rush seating material is perfect. These pictures have a perfectly Vermeer-like quality to them because of the use of natural lighting; the effect is as quiet and elegant as the Dutch master’s paintings. I love the simple mullions and the unique light fixture, with the sturdy-looking table.}

{Fresh flowers, a familiar wicker basket, and a banquette that follows the curve of the window seat makes this an inviting space to have tea in the morning.}

{I may have posted this before on my blog… I just love the warmth that the cabinet brings to an otherwise cool space.}

{Perfectly rustic & utilitarian, the lights, metal hood, & even the old-fashioned ice-box hinges add to the authenticity of this country kitchen.}

{Compare this living room with the other one, and you get a perfect formal vs. informal situation. This has a simpler fireplace with simpler pieces of furniture surrounding it.}

{Love the shape of that mirror with the airiness/legginess of this vanity.}

{I believe the thickness of the beams in the ceiling are a bit too heavy in the master bedroom.}

{Love the window-pane detail atop the stairs.}

{A barrel vaulted ceiling recalls the shapes in the collection of shadowboxes containing model ships in this hallway.}

I think I would “rough” up the hardware a bit so it is not so shiny. I might even use recycled “throwaway” stuff in my workshop.

The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world.
The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been swimming around for so long.
They have hundreds of poisonous tentacles that it used to catch passing by fish. it then slowly drags in it’s prey and eats it.
That is terrifying.
